Gillian Horgan has a background in Stroke Research, Health Management, and Public Relations and has worked as a key member of the NeuroVascular Research Unit since 2005. She has completed training in stroke clinical research, phlebotomy, the administration of the NIH Stroke Scale and Modified Rankin Score assessments. She has substantial experience in conduct of clinical research studies in cerebrovascular disease. For the North Dublin Population Stroke Study, she screened over 1,000 patients, recruited over 300 patients, performed consent, data collection and data entry. In the multi-centre study of blood biomarkers for stroke risk prediction, she screened approximately 1500 patients, and recruited approx 250 patients. She is the lead clinical researcher on BIOVASC an Irish and International multi-centre study.
